Tips for Caring for your Andrew Pearce Cutting Board
- Hand wash your wood products with warm soapy water after use and hand dry with a clean cloth. After hand washing and towel drying, allow your board to air dry overnight in a rack so air can reach all sides. This will help prevent warping. Do not store damp boards directly on a countertop or in a cupboard.
- To maintain natural wood beauty and integrity, recondition your wood product with Andrew Pearce Refined Walnut Wood Oil every 6 months, or more often if the wood begins to look dull.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wood Cutting Boards
How do you clean a wooden cutting board? Wood cutting boards are best cleaned with a mild soap and warm water to remove all food residue. Towel dry the board after washing and leave to dry on its side to prevent warping. Ensuring air flow around the board is key.
What is the best type of wood for a cutting board? Cutting boards should be made from hardwoods. We use cherry and walnut. As long as you have a hard wood for your cutting board, it really comes down to personal style as each wood type naturally varies in color. Our boards made of a single piece of hardwood are also free of glue.
How do you remove scratches from a wooden cutting board? You don’t. Cutting boards are the perfect forgiving surface for knives. When you chop or cut on a wood surface, the board will show knife marks. The point is, you’ve protected your knife blade from dulling and your wood cutting board becomes even more unique over time.
How do you protect the bark on a live edge cutting board? There is no bark on our live edge cutting boards. We remove the bark and finish our cutting boards so that they have that look and feel of a natural edge, but without the actual bark being present.
Can you put a wooden cutting board in the dishwasher? Please, no! Cleaning wooden products in a dishwasher causes the grain to swell resulting in irreparable harm to the product. Warping, cracking, and discoloration are all common consequences.
Can you put a wooden cutting board in the oven? NO. This is considered an unsafe practice.
How do you get onion smell out of a wood cutting board? Removing the onion (and garlic) smell from a wood cutting board takes some effort. Try using a sprinkle of baking soda on the board, and then squeeze a half of a lemon. Scrub the board and then rinse with warm water.
How do you get a stain out of a wood cutting board? To prevent stains, wash your product when you first get it, clean after each use, and regularly recondition with Andrew Pearce Refined Walnut Wood Oil.
How often should I oil my wood cutting board? Periodiy reconditioning your wood cutting board with Andrew Pearce Refined Walnut Wood Oil will preserve the finish and protect the board. We wood oil application approximay every 3-4 months. If the board is being washed on a regular basis, we suggest oiling your board more often, or whenever it begins to look dull.
